Mario Van Peebles directed and starred in this film about a group of African-American soldiers (and one white one) on the hasten from a improper military officer. The officer (Billy Zane) had the posse lift some gold from Cuba during the Spanish-American War. He planned to destroy them afterwards, but the group proved stronger than he belief and they escaped. They near succor to the states and follow Jesse (Van Peebles) to the dream town of his deceased father in west Texas. Jesse has some inner demons to silence and they won’t be quiet until he has settled an venerable bag.

The film is entertaining. However, the movie relies heavily upon typical Western cliches which dampen some of the it’s uniqueness. Nevertheless, the film does raise awareness about all the shaded cowboys and settlers that were so instrumental in taming the West that most people don’t even know existed. An educational film that is quite though-provoking to discover.

Mario Van Peebles “Posse” is a movie with flaws, but it treats its source material with respect. Unlike the shallow and comical “Rosewood” Van Peebles “Posse” gives viewers a definite record of what life was like for African-American cowboys at the turn of the century. We glean to know characters in the myth. The production values are uncouth budget, and several roles are miscast, but Van Peebles’ heart is in every second of this film. He loves the material and wants us to learn as remarkable about these forgotten dusky heroes as he has. Portion “spaghetti western”, piece action flick, section historical drama, Posse is a lot of fun to glance. Mario Van Peebles, Billy Zane, Melvin Van Peebles and Salli Richardson in her first role are sizable. Tis one is worth owining for your collection.

Yu Yu Hakusho: First Battles will do two things: the first, it will give all those people who enjoyed the series but never serene it an opportunity to capture it from the open, and second, it will inflame a lot of the fans who bought every separate DVD release or box state over the past couple years. I happen to be in the first category, and I mediate this was a intellectual release of a series that I got into because of the gracious action and strangely interweaving chronicle.

Yu Yu Hakusho has probably the strangest beginning for an action anime ever created. It starts out somewhat dramatic, with a punk kid, Yusuke, getting hit by a car. From there, he must attempt to collect succor his life from the gods of death. He must originate a series of tasks and the like in order to execute this. The subtitle for Yu Yu Hakusho, Ghost Files, made a lot of sense when you assume the beginning. But after Yusuke goes about getting his life abet, he becomes a spirit detective and fights in a series of battles in order to either a) terminate a demon criminal or, b) obtain more power. It doesn’t fit, and that is the only reason why I gave this series a four rather than a five, for the incongruous open.

Still, the heaping of Yu Yu episodes in this DVD state makes up for that, as it snappy gets past the early fraction to the spirit detective fragment. This DVD contains the first fourteen episodes, and go as listed:

FUNimation knows how to please it fans–for the most part; the insane amount of episodes for the cheap brand is definitely proof of that. With maybe a few uncommon moments of voice-acting (such as Botan’s continually shifting accent), this series was surprisingly well-done. If you haven’t already started collecting the situation and you’re a fan of Yu Yu’s days on Cartoon Network, then now is the perfect time to pick up this station.

In Yu Yu Hakusho: First Battles, you’ll accumulate the first fourteen episodes of the demonstrate in both English and Japanese with subtitles. This present is a terrific anime corpulent of enthralling characters and consuming stories. Specifically, this first volume focuses on setting up the narrative. You’ll stare how the main character, Yusuke Urameshi, becomes a Spirit Detective and how he does in his first two cases.

The reveal is about the main character, Yusuke Urameshi, a 14 year weak young man with a lack of ambition and hatred for authority figures. He is seen by most as a pain maker known for loving to fight and skipping school. A classmate and future friend of his, Kuwabara, constantly challenges him to fights and has yet to procure. Only a girl named Kaeko sees some kindly in Yusuke whom she has known since they were children. Yusuke’s mother is a bit of a slush, but truly cares about him. With a personality and background such as this, Yusuke doesn’t fit the bill of your typical hero…until strangely enough, he dies.

Saving a child from a car rupture, Yusuke unexpectedly gives up his life. He meets Botan, the Grim Reaper and Koenma, prince of the Spirit Realm. In honor of his first-rate deed, Yusuke is allowed to attempt a test to advance help to life. At first he thinks he and everyone else would be better off with him monotonous, but when he sees the hurt his family and friends experience with him gone, he takes the test. Eventually, Yusuke succeeds, but the adventure is fair beginning. Having experienced death, Yusuke comes support to life with an unusualy high awareness of the supernatural. He can witness things others can’t and Koenma recruites him to be Spirit Detective of Earth, but can Yusuke do his job without dieing…again?

Like a said, a pleasing captivating tale! The characters are inspiring with some sweet, others hilarious, and others disturbing. 14 episodes for this ticket is a grand deal too. If you like DBZ or Inuyasha, you’ll admire Yu Yu Hakusho. The extras are lacking, but I bought this reveal for the episodes themselves so I don’t really mind this, but others might. To be unbiased, a review can’t do the exhibit justice, so objective win it and peruse it yourself. It shouldn’t lift long for you to gawk why it deserves 5 stars.

“Persepolis” is an spirited film based on Marjane Satrapi’s autobiographical graphic unique of the same name about her childhood in Tehran during the last Iranian revolution and coming of age after emigrating to Vienna. It is an extraordinarily ordinary account about an average woman coming to terms with herself and with the world around her. Did I say “average woman”? My dreadful. I meant dynamic, charming, incandescent, and fiercely individualistic. Ms. Satrapi’s record is among the finest works ever appealing and bestows upon the viewer the endless virtues of knowledge, a broadened mind, and a apt perspective on humanity. “Persepolis” will atomize your heart, beget you smile and laugh out loud, cheer, possibly sigh, and restore your faith in humanity. The fact that this was passed over for an Oscar in favor of yet another mediocre Pixar pains (about a rat that controls a chef by pulling his hair, no less) is the ultimate proof clear that that award (or any other, really) has no merit whatsoever.

Young Marji walks down the street to the situation where shady characters reside. As she passes each bootlegger, they jabber the names of the forbidden fruit they beget. “Lipstick” whispers one, “Jichael Mackson” mispronounces another. She continues on until she hears what she wants: “Iron Maiden”. She lickety-split negotiates a heed and makes off with her prize impartial as a group of overbearing religious figures tower over her. They have taken order with her shoes: lifeless sneakers. Marjie insists they are for basketball, but another spots her Michael Jackson patch, a symbol of American greed. Then the coup-de-gras; she has “punk is not monotonous” scrawled across the assist of her outfit. Thinking snappily, Marjie bursts into tears, sobbing lies about her parents having died in the war with the Iraqis and a cruel guardian who will burn her with an iron if they turn her in. Safely abet at home, having tricked the local oppressive religious posse, the young girl grabs a tennis racket as a guitar and bangs her head to the sweet, hard-earned reward of heavy metal. The scene then segues -music collected rocking- to the frontlines of the war where the unique Iranian Islamic rulers are sending young men unarmed to hasten the Iraqi army, acting as human shields/martyrs. Their parents are rewarded by the government for their sons’ sacrifices with puny plastic keys which are promised to initiate the door to Heaven for their tiresome children. Such are the complications of everyday life in Iran at this time. The duality of these scenes speaks a lot for the power and message of this film. But while there is highly enlightening political commentary and historical information to be found here, the focus is on the everyday life and struggles of our protagonist with the horrors of her surrounding often being downplayed.

The animation is minimalist art of the highest stylistic brilliance. The endearing nature of Marjie and her family is only highlighted by the ultra-simplistic shadowy and white pencil-and-paper artwork. All of the CG in the world could not improve on this film in any way; the focus is on yarn, characters, and stylistic integrity, as it should be. The film’s philosophies hurry deep and mountainous, ranging from harsh commentaries on authority to harsh commentary on purposeless counterculture. Wisdom comes from Marjie’s grandmother, from her imaginary chats with God, and her memories of her communist uncle. These are life lessons about integrity, prudence, and acceptance that one should always carry with them and earn many, many quotable quotes.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Persepolis! Click Here

Do not deem for a second that this film is all about heaviness of spirit and preachiness. No, no, no, no; nothing could be further from the truth. Ms. Satrapi is a quick-witted social satyrist who fills “Persepolis” with pointed jokes, lighthearted moments, and heartwarming charm while pointing out that at heart, we are all the same. There is a time in Marjie’s life where she becomes a monotonous, jaded cynic unable to do anything but recognize TV and let life pass her by. Then one day, she wakes up excited again. The result is a musical montage that will likely construct you laugh hysterically or jump out of your seat to state along. Possiby both. This is fair that kind of film. Throw in some enthralling esteem for Godzilla, Bruce Lee, and Terminator 2 and I am beyond sold.

The DVD has a few behind-the-scenes special features that explain us the woman herself at work. Having already fallen in cherish with her enchanting doppelganger, seeing the vivacious Marjane Satrapi made flesh is a proper treat. We score a notion of the old-school animation processes and are able to behold Ms. Satropi act out different characters for the animators to behold. This is nearly as great fun as the movie itself. Incredible feature.

This is a near-perfect film that I would recommend to anybody who isn’t going to hasten away from a mostly sunless and white appealing film with subtitles. And if you are: well, delight in your life of closed-minded cinematic ignorance. “Persepolis” is a revelation whose duty is to entertain us while reminding us unprejudiced how estimable we have it and simultaneously educating us about a culture and history few in the West have made any attempt to understand. Ms. Satropi’s insisted that this sage be appealing and not filmed for this reason: fascinating characters are more universally identifiable. Region a film in Iran and beget it with Iranians and you have an ethic film that many will subconsciously refuse to identify with. But with animation, all things are possible; even bridging a gaping cultural divide. But at it’s heart, this is a film about the enthusiam of youth, the hardships of adulthood, and the triumph of personal integrity. Do not miss this.

Every once in a while a stout revelation comes in cinema… and we have one here!

Based on the graphic novels The Complete Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi, this 90 itsy-bitsy film is a satisfactory translation of the modern source material. The heavily stylized dark and white cartoon is very noteworthy yet remains simple in it’s universal emotional core. The charming limited girl we are introduced slowly grows up to be a defiant woman in a set that is not for her. As we go along with the scramble characters arrive and go, but the threat of Marjane’s epic never becomes ancient, every state point makes an impact. The miserable acquire and attractive rendition of Glance of the Tiger add a improbable layer to the whole experience.

This film is a breath of new air in this cynical age of high thought mega tent-pole films. For Iranians, it’s a bittersweet creep home, and for Americans… a sizable chance to discover that Iranians are not the monsters portrayed in the never ending game of politico.

A dazzling shadowy and white film for an era of oh so gray problems.

This is by far Ben Stiller’s best performance ever, and if you can’t savor it you obviously haven’t seen it enough times. These people who give the movie one star, spouting non-sense about it putting skinny people in a fallacious light, are simply incompetent. I’m skinny and when I sleep I earn a very disturbing sound don’t be alawmed I’m heavenly, and my feelings aren’t wound by this movie. These critics are spreaders of negativity and I won’t have them corrupting my cult movie. How would their fathers like to know that their children are destroyers. Here is a suggestion for watching the movie…spy it in a ample group of people who truly savor it and can quote it, fast-forward till Ben Stiller arrives, witness the movie fast-forwarding through the sappy beefy kid moments like the go-cart and dock (”retain your washboard stomachs and oily muscles”) scenes and press close when Ben Stiller leaves. You will learn vital lessons like regardless of whether or not it will “smush” always have crazy guys locked up in cages through over hershey’s kisses making your queen proud, and that lunch can be cancelled due to lack of hustle. In closing I have one final thing to say “Advance on you devil log.”

Pulsating under multiple layers of make-up, Ben Stiller’s portrayel of camp owner Tony Perkis is one of the finest performences in cinematic history. While critics will say this film hits you over the head with mindless tubby jokes and a mediocre message, the underlying reality is that somehow Stiller overcame what, at one point, must have been an inane Disney script. This movie is a triumph mixing pre teen psychological angst, satirical anarexic paranoia, sentimental summer hijinks, and subtle detailed infomercial insanity. From the “blob” to the sunless kid, the underlying themes of society’s acceptance and approval bubble through the seemingly unilayered comedic glory. “I rise, I rise, I rise” sings the movie’s spirit between the wonderfully chosen songs on its soundtrack. (Support an gape out for who’s REALLY playing “Papa” at the end–wink wink) . This movie could not be improved. Now that Kubrick is gone we have one name to behold to. Bravo, Mr. Stiller (either one) Bravo!

I saw this film for the first time after a friend who had seen it in the theater in 1978 recommended it. I was prepared to peek a children’s movie and was struck by the seriousness of the subject and the realistic scenes.

The film begins with the mythology of the rabbit which is rather peculiar but in a cute blueprint. This introduction foreshadows the hardships and enemies the rabbit species will face. From there the epic seems to touch on at least two issues: fascism/Marxism and environmentalism. The latter is only briefly touched on. The tiny rabbit Fiver, who has unexplained powers to foresee the future, urges a group of fellow rabbits in his “warren” to leave before their land is destroyed by some destructive force. Actually, it is man who tears up their fields, but it is only described briefly by a survivor. In their skedaddle to the good mountain top (utopia? ), they encounter several enemies and a droll bird friend (my accepted of the characters) . Once they approach their destination, they realize that they have no females in their group (the only “doe” having been killed) and must return to unsafe territory to score mates. Their worst enemy, ironically, is a member of their have species; a fascist rabbit who threatens to have any dissenter from his warren killed. Also, ironically, inventions of man (i.e. a boat) are stale by the rabbits in their struggle to survive. A musical segment with music sung by Art Garfunkel interrupts the fairly fast-moving memoir.

The violence in this film is surprisingly realistic and graphic. Some rabbits do not obtain it, so very young children may need to be prepared before watching. I also looked at a VHS copy of this film, and DVD is far great in terms of graphics and color. The extras on this DVD were a tiny disappointing considering that this film is a classic (i.e. a glossary of rabbit words that is not even complete) . Smooth, this attractive film is one that adults may savor more than the kids.

Like many of the reviewers before me I first watched this wait on when I was a child and yes it did provoke a range of emotions in me. I cheered when they escaped on the boat; I was sickened in the portray of the fate of the first warren. I admit it 15 years on I mild yell at the raze of the movie. Don’t be fooled into thinking fair because it’s and spellbinding feature about rabbits that this film will be gracious for younger kids, it is NOT. Watership down has quite graphic representations of brutality and death. Putting those facts aside it does enlighten a compelling sage about a band of refugees looking for some location to resettle and live their lives out in peace. It unprejudiced happens that the refugees are rabbits.

This is a legend of survival. It is a feeble epic told in a produce hold blueprint. It is told with an edge of realism that contradicts the candy coating of the animation and character species. I objective bought a copy of this so my wife and I could glimpse it. Melanie (My wife) having not seen it before and not sparkling what to examine was left speechless when Violet was gone. If I were to rate the film I would give it at least a PG maybe even a PG 13 for its possible NIGHTMARES for younger children. I give the sage 4 stars for being titillating and well told

Full Metal Dismay Fumoffu is the sequel series to the unusual Beefy Metal Horror anime series in which Sousuke Sagara and some of his buddies from the anti-terrorist agency called Mithril were assigned to gape and protect Kaname Chidori. Kaname is one of the “Whispered”, a person who unknowlingly carries classified military secrets in their memories. The unique series never gave very considerable more info about it than that. Sousuke is sent into Kaname’s high school posing as a fellow student.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu – Full Metal Pandemonium! Click Here

Whereas the first series tried to strike a balance between Sousuke’s combat missions and the droll slapstick of high school life, sometimes with mixed results, Fumoffu focuses solely on the comedy bits at school. Sousuke doesn’t have a clue as to how to live a normal teenager’s life. He’s been trained to extinguish since an early age. So, for example, when a secret admirer puts a treasure brand in his shoe locker, Sousuke, noticing his locker has been tampered with, proceeds to region plastic explosive on his locker and detonate it. Another example of his arrive to life is when him and the rest of the characters are playing a watermelon smashing game at the beach, he takes out a police riot shotgun and blows it away. And he also has no clue that Haname likes him. To him, romance is irrational and unknown. It’s up to Haname to explain him how to function in the loyal world beyond fighting mecha and covert ops.

Haname has her possess problems though, whether its an obssessed voyeur, or Sousuke scaring the rest of the students with his handgun brandishing, but its nothing a punch, a hit with a fan, or a baseball bat beating can’t solve. Another nice touch is that the class president sees all of Sousuke’s antics as acceptable and perfectly normal, worthy to the consternation of Haname.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu – Full Metal Pandemonium! Click Here

This is a really droll explain. I always liked the characters but was a tiny do off by the melodrama that sometimes plagued the current series. All the peformances by the Japanese recount actors are heart-felt and very expressive, and have some really nice touches in the comedic moments. It is also spicy extremely well, especially the frenzied homework episode where Haname and Sousuke are racing against the clock to retrieve some class notes. The preview of Volume 2 on this dvd shows that Fumoffu will obtain ever funnier. Highly recommended.

The dvd contains the standard character artwork, some background information about the series, openings and closings, and some Japanese TV spots.

I would recommend viewing the unique series first, which has been recently calm in a boxed space. Also check out the manga. If you liked Fumoffu, you should also believe about Azumanga Daioh in anime and manga versions for more high school comedy. Another comic indicate is Dokkoida.

First, if you read the manga, you would realize that this series is more of a supplemental than a sequal. Several mini-stories were delayed to fabricate the first season more mecha-based. Second, Chidori is collected a Whispered. Third, the title is based off the words of Sosuke (restful Japanese U) in a Bonta-Kun outfit. Fourth, more Apprehension can only be a capable thing!

Someone related this to Ranma 1/2, but if you want more of than, recognize Kenshin. This series has some of the same woman-beats-on-man, but with a different twist. Chidori is trying desperately to yelp Sosuke to deal with Sincere Life (as opposed to mercenary life–which is why he composed attends high school, to protect his Whispered assignment) . Sosuke takes her abuse, although in any other region, he’d defend himself better, and that is objective one symptom of his attraction to her. There are a lot of subtle references, and some not so, with these two, which makes the series all the more natty to peruse.

Romance! Guns! Comedy! Things blowing up! How could it win better? Oh, yeah, if Sosuke ever gained the courage to kiss Chidori…

Definitely one of Hayley Mills best films. Her fans definitely treasure it. Burl Ives, Dorothy McGuire, and Michael Pollard are improbable in their roles as well as Hayley. The sets and music are savory in this movie about an earlier time when life was simpler and although exciting, remarkable kinder. Hayley does a aesthetic job playing a young lady that is always elephantine of optimism. In some respects like the optimism of Bing Crosby in “The Bells of St. Mary’s”. She charms her contrivance to fetch what she wants. This color movie doesn’t seem to age, since if you didn’t know when it was made, you would deem it could have been recently. Amazingly families today quiet procure this an appetizing movie, but then it is an incredible movie. Paunchy of warmth and values of the heart. I recommend it to all, but especially to anyone that enjoys the older Disney classics.

When Disney studios brought together a talented cast, a simple but effective script, and their family oriented production values, the result was often magic. Such was the case with this film, one of Hayley Mills’ best.

When we join the movie the Carey family is under difficult times. Margaret Carey’s (Dorothy McGuire) husband has recently passed away. Stock investments made by Mr. Carey have added to the family’s fiscal woes. As Mrs. Carey struggles to figure out how the family will survive, headstrong Nancy Carey (Mills) has taken matters into her enjoy hands by writing to Mr. Ossium “Osh” Popham (Burl Ives in one of his best roles) to ask whether a positive yellow house was available for rent. That Nancy exaggerated the extent of the family’s financial need is temporarily overlooked, but not forgotten. Mr. Popham is more than joyful to encourage the family and invites them to proceed into the yellow house for a modest rent.

The yellow house turns out to need a shapely amount of work to execute it livable, and Osh, who is also the owner of the local general store, continues to assist the Careys as they beget improvements. We soon procure out that Osh has not communicated with the owner of the house, Tom Hamilton (Peter Brown), with respect to all the various happenings related to the yellow house, and we know that at some point there will likely arrive a reckoning.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Summer Magic! Click Here

Adding to the family oriented fun is younger brother Peter Carey (Jimmy Mathers), who finds a creative contrivance to glean his hair cleave, and then adopts a dog for the family. Cousin Julia Carey (Deborah Walley) is forced to depart in with the Carey’s due to financial circumstances with the family she has been living. That well-to-do family and their lifestyle causes a lot of stress in the financially strapped Carey family as Julia tends to mention them far too worthy.

Other supporting cast members include Una Merkel as Mariah Popham and Michael J. Pollard as Digby Popham. Michael also appeared in an episode of the novel “Star Promenade” television series.

The movie is somewhat anachronistic as feminism is equated with hiding your fair self, particularly in the quest for seeking a husband. Yet, with that same definition of feminism we peruse strong female roles for Dorothy McGuire and Hayley Mills, so the relatively extinct attitude towards feminism is tempered somewhat.

As with any Disney movie, the realities of life are not completely ignored, and the long-absent Tom Hamilton finally shows up. While the difficult suppose of what Mr. Hamilton will do with a family that has become somewhat of a squatter in his house, the ending does provide hope that all will turn out well in spite of Nancy’s fears of the “yellow trouble.”

This movie has a few brief moments that may tinge on unsuitability for younger audiences, but parents should be able to interpret those situations. Otherwise, I contemplate this movie pleasant for families including even the youngest children. This movie is a winner that any family will get to be an respectable addition to their video collection.

(9) The Engagement Ring: Barney purchases a ring for Betty but Wilma discovers the ring and assumes it was for her… Instead of spending five minutes explaining the set, Barney decides to enter a boxing contest with The Champ.
(10) Hollyrock, Here I Come: The girls reach up with a winning slogan and a travel to Hollyrock. Lost without their better halves, Fred and Barney aren’t far tedious.
(11) The Golf Champion: Fred demonstrates his prowess at golf, earning a trophy. Barney, however, pesters his buddy as Fred neglected to pay his membership dues.

(13) The Drive-In: Fred and Barney secretly pause their jobs to fulfill a short-lived dream of business ownership. The gig is up when one of their shapely employees pays a visit to the Flintstone plot.
(14) The Prowler: Paralyzed by a neighborhood prowler, Betty and Wilma choose to steal Judo lessons, despite Fred’s objections.

At this writing, I couldn’t jabber you about the extra’s included in this volume. However, as I purchase, The Flintstones’ 3rd season (1962-63) is perhaps their most transitional, as Fred (Alan Reed) and Wilma (Jean Vanderpyl) give birth to a slight cavegirl named Pebbles (also voiced by Vanderpyl, she would invent her debut towards the ruin of season 3 in Dress Rehearsal (aka The Blessed Event), at the demolish of the show; her 1st words are “Abba dabba goo goo!”) . Many of the cartoons featured Wilma expecting, with the announcement of Wilma’s pregnancy at the ruin of one particular episode appropriately entitled The Surprise (ironically, this episode had more to deal with Barney’s nephew Marblehead, whom Fred grows to esteem, though he won’t admit it! Listen for Marblehead’s imitation of Uncle Barney’s hiccupy laugh) . Barney (Mel Blanc) and Betty (Bea Benederet) are the godparents. Also, the familiar theme “Meet the Flintstones” also makes it gracious debut in this season (it was featured in background music in Seasons 1 and 2) .

Highlights include a performance by Rock Roll, who looks and sings a puny like Elvis (”There’s a town I know where the hipsters go called Bedrock, twitch, twitch!”), Wilma and Betty enter a Rock Toasties contest and acquire a trudge to Hawaii (Wilma saves Fred’s life by punching out a ferocious dinosaur chasing him, “Beat it, buster!”), Barney plans a surprise birthday party for Fred and spends most of the episode trying to secure a hasty asleep Fred home to the party, Fred takes ballet lessons to improve his bowling, Barney saves a baby but Fred unintentionally takes the credit, Fred goes aid to high school for his diploma in order to avoid termination from Mr. Slate and becomes a football hero (”Flintstone! Flintstone! Rah, rah, rah!”), Wilma rents the house to 3 Swedish musicians (”Duh, he is Olie, I am Schven!”), Barney becomes invisible thanks to one of Fred’s wacky inventions, Fred tries hard to find along with his foul mother-in-law during a visit (”I cherish my mudderinlaw!” he reminds himself, but gets his revenge by taking her on a long taxiride in disguise), Fred hires an Italian maid named Lolabrickida (who is an great cook and a lot nicer than Grandma Dynamite and the bossy nurse hired after Pebbles’ birth, but has zero tolerance for awful singing!), Fred and Barney go skiing in the mountains and unwittingly prevent a jewelheist (”Psst! Slalom, Shorty, SLALOM!”), Barney reluctantly agrees to masquerade at Puny Tex to price Fred’s rich Uncle Tex (voiced by Hal Smith, “Wahoooooo!”), Arnold the Paperboy cons Fred into paying more and later Wilma insists Fred contemplate a quacky doctor and for Wilma’s birthday, Fred buys her a dodo bird named Doosey, who snitches to Wilma and Betty about the boys’ plans to go to a Water Buffalo convention in Frantic City without them (”Swear! Frantic City, Frantic City, verbalize, whistle!”) . Also, Barney tricks Fred into thinking Pebbles can talk (”Do thum backfwips for me, Daddy, or I’ll cwyyyy!”) and the Flintstones fade out of their humble abode to be reach a crowd of rich snobs (”Everybody into the pyool!”) .

If you liked Seasons 1 and 2, set aside your money for this one! That’ll be 2 rocks, please!

It is fine to explore that Esther William’s films that did not gain Volume 1 of her DVD collection are being given a general release with lots of extras rather than being do on DVD-R into the Warner Archive. The Archive is a first-rate thought for obscure films in which visuals are not that primary – Marie Dressler’s films of the early 1930’s are pleasant examples of such films – but Esther’s Technicolor musicals needed to be restored to their fresh visual splendor to be appreciated. The following is the press release for this film indicating extras, costars, and brief location outlines.

End of press release.

These six musicals are usually very light in position, involve exotic settings, and have plenty of opportunities for musical interludes besides Esther’s water ballets, which are lovely. The time of Esther William’s peak popularity was a time of upheaval for MGM, which is where these films were made. After the war, MGM began a downward spiral brought on largely by the competition of TV but also by MGM’s inabilities to conform to the public’s changing tastes. One plot where MGM continued to do well was in their musicals, at least until the unhurried 1950’s, and Esther’s films were among their peak product in this department.

Thanks so considerable to TCM and Warner Home Video for producing the long overdue and worthy anticipated second volume of Esther Williams films.

I am thrilled that “THRILL OF A ROMANCE” (no pun intended) is included – my all-time favourite Esther film.

This lady has brought continuous joy and pleasure to millions of people with her warm, though-provoking personality and trustworthy swimming and athletic talents and the films all boast attractive music scores and songs, and many other talented players.

The films were originally produced when Metro Goldwyn Mayer was at its zenith, providing the world with savory family and general entertainment.

Much appreciation also to the previous Reviewer who has provided us with all the feast of information about the very good extras on the individual DVD pressings.

WELL DONE!
